Obverse (Liberty Side): There’s visible wear on the high points of the hair (especially above the eye, forehead, and near the ear), with some flattening but still clear separation in the strands. The cheek has light abrasion and smoothing, and the cotton bolls/leaves show minor flatness on the edges. No major scratches or hits, which keeps it from dropping lower.
• Reverse (Eagle Side): The eagle’s breast is mostly smooth (feathers nearly worn away), talons are flat but defined, and wing feathers have good detail with only the tips showing wear. The wreath leaves are sharp except for the very tops, and the overall design is well-preserved.
• General: No remaining mint luster (which would push it toward About Uncirculated/AU grades), but the coin isn’t heavily abraded like a Very Fine (VF) example. It aligns closely with standard XF-40 criteria from guides like the ANA and PCGS.
