Antique Art Deco F. Spahr Bright yellow porcelain silver overlay Fish Mouth Vase. Friedrich Spahr Silver Overlay Bright Yellow Porcelain Vase. Circa 1950s/60m German Porcelain and Silver. The porcelain is unmarked but I feel certain it is from the Thomas porcelain manufactory. Silver overlay has always been a limited production luxury item due to the complicated and time consuming process of manufacture. Depending on the thickness of the silver desired, the application process alone can take up to thirty hours. Although we could not find a mark on the silver, the pattern including the design has been attributed to Spahr. An abstract designed silver overlay porcelain vase decorated with a simple abstract design upon a yellow fish mouth shaped body. The porcelain unmarked but probably Thomas Porcelain and the shape design by Raymond Loewy. There are some minor surface scratches to the silver.
