Hand-dovetailed solid mahogany chest with full-width lower drawer, likely French Second Empire (Napoléon III), c.1850–1875. Low, elongated form and ornate brass pulls suggest a trousseau/linen chest once used to store household textiles. Rich patina and figured mahogany give it presence for French country, farmhouse, or traditional spaces; works at the foot of a bed or as low storage. Size: 34 x 21.75 x 11.75 in. Old, non-functioning lock; no key.

Condition (as found): red cushion no longer adheres. Lining and cushion are likely later additions; small pencil circle inside lid; age-related wood shrinkage; split to one side; few white paint flecks; chips to corner joinery; overextension of the bottom drawer; two small holes on lid where a plaque likely once sat.
