French white heart beads which are more rare than old Venetian beads.
1. Fire polished: They would finish the bead by re heating it, this gave the glass a shimmer finish but made beads look a bit like they're melting. That's partly why they are sometimes oddly shaped or have angled ends.
- Small batch beads: These predate Venetian glass so generally speaking the French technique did not allow for mass production at Venetian scale. So the odd shape is partly because the process of making them was more primitive than Venetian beads. This is also why they have a more even coating of red -the red glass wasn't drawn out as far as Venetian beads.
21" strand 6.5 beads per inch, about 5mm average size diameter. Approximately 140+ of the rarest trade beads on their original fibrous cord!
