  Special Japanese Telescopic Hedge Shears made by Kamaki in Japan. Made of high carbon steel, the cutting edges are sharp & cut nicely. Works great for various garden tasks such as trimming, thinning, etc. The handles are extra large for a good grip. Extends out to 48" overall length (1.2 m).    Made in Japan.

     High carbon steel is tougher & harder than stainless steels, making it ideal & desirable for applications where durability is required & where frequent regrinding is needed. Carbon steels are more durable & have razor-sharp edges, & is easy to re-sharpen as well when the need arises.

     Since carbon steel has superior cutting qualities due to it's hardness & toughness, it's resistance to corrosion caused by moisture is low as a result. Therefore, it is important to try and keep your carbon steel blades away from moist or damp environments as much as possible. It is also a good idea to occasionally wipe the blade with a light oil, such as mineral oil from time to time. It is also a good idea to wipe the blade dry after each use.
