This is just an exquisite vintage hat. From Winkleman's store in Detroit. (Winkleman's opened in 1928 and they closed their last store in bankruptcy in 1998) This was either grandma's or mom's and as will all her belongings, she took pride and care with her belongings and clothes. The colors are vibrant. What a piece of history. You can wear this like a hat or headband.
***Background on this: the half hat is said to have been designed by a French born, US Millner, Lilly Dache. Half hats are also referred to as clip hats. They became popular in the 1950s and were intended to be worn with the pin-curled hairstyles of the time. Fitting right to the crown of head.
