This is a vintage Russian (Soviet Union) lacquer box, a traditional folk art form dating back to the late 18th century. These boxes are made from papier-mâché and are hand-painted with intricate miniature scenes. Beautiful piece with floral designs & what seems to be a type of squirrel surrounded by pine branches and flowers.
Great condition. Measures approximately 4" x 2.75" x 1.75" tall. Signed "Made in USSR BD-147"
