Here is a beautiful vintage, sterling silver, onyx and Opal pendant necklace. The stone was probably made in the 1970’s and was purchased at an estate sale. The oval shaped stone is a flat and a shiny onyx with an inlay of a butterfly made with fire opals. The artist took their time inlaying the pieces of shimmering opals and then polishing it to a flat and shiny finish. It is set in a sterling wire frame, with prongs, and hangs on an thicker 18” sterling snake chain. This type of jewelry application has become highly collectible. Not only does it take a ton of time to make, but opals have become very expensive. My hope is that this pieced ends up with someone who will fall in love with it, wear it, take care of it and pass it down! The pendant measures 1 5/8” long. R1
